We are an award-winning trusted provider of technology lifecycle services for the circular economy – processing more than 200,000 devices every year.
Through the repair, refurbishment and recycling of mobile devices – keeping technology alive for longer is at the centre of everything we do.
We employ nearly 150 staff from our 43,000 square foot headquarters in Newcastle-under-Lyme we work with a range of sectors including insurers, manufacturers, mobile and technology retailers, the public sector and SME’s.
Our team specialise in:
We are also a Samsung approved partner and our on-site state-of-the art Samsung Support Centre offers a drop-in service, where devices are repaired using only genuine parts.
It started out as a single shop founded by our Chairman Adam Whitehouse. Called: ‘The Mobile Trader,’ and based in Stoke-on-Trent Adam bought phones from consumers, refurbished and reset them before selling them on. But it soon grew and later that year TMT First, as it became, moved to a bigger premises. Major contract wins with insurance companies and building strong relationships with leading manufacturers including Samsung have seen us go from strength to strength, employing more staff and moving into even bigger premises.
In 2020 we launched our own training academy in partnership with Samsung to upskill the next generation of mobile phone repair technicians and to fill a skills shortage.
We have also been shortlisted and won a number of years including an Outstanding Contribution to the Staffordshire Business and Environment Network.
We want to play our part in building a more sustainable mobile industry, which is responsible for an estimated 1% of all CO2 emissions globally releasing 580 million tonnes of CO2 annually.
Keeping technology alive for longer is vital as approximately 80% of a mobile phone’s CO2 emissions come from its manufacture, not its subsequent use. Therefore, extending the life of devices, rather than replacing them has huge environmental benefits.
As well as reducing CO2 emissions, we are also offsetting.* Through our partnership with Ecologi – we plant a tree for every device we repair.
To date we have planted more than 25,000 trees and have offset more than 160 tonnes of CO2 and those figures are growing all the time. We have also committed to planting a total of 1 million trees by 2032 by signing up to the million-tree pledge.
Since I founded TMT in 2006 the tech industry, in particular the advancements made in mobile technology have changed immeasurably.
From day one we’ve worked with the world’s leading manufacturers including Samsung who we are very proud to be an approved partner of.
In the last few years alone, we have doubled in size, expanded our headquarters and launched our very first training academy, upskilling the next generation of engineers, to support us on our journey as we continue to expand.
Sustainability is at the very core of what we do. We want to extend the life of mobile technology, so that refurbished, repurposed devices become the norm, so that mentality shifts from having the latest tech for the sake of it. That can only be good for our environment.
With your help we can also help reduce our carbon footprint. Partnering with Ecologi we are working on projects to plant trees – our pledge through our customer’s support is to plant a million trees in the next ten years.
The quality of services we deliver, the expertise we have, our excellent customer service and the vital work we are doing through TMT to support environmental sustainability is why I am so proud to lead our organisation.Adam Whitehouse
