2006

The journey begins…

Our Founder and Chairman Adam Whitehouse opened ‘The Mobile Trader,’ from a single shop in Longton. TMT First was incorporated from that and started life from two units in Park Hall, Stoke-on-Trent.

Made it to the news

We reached our first major milestone configuring more than 2 million devices, featuring in Mobile News in the process.

ISO 9001

We gained ISO 9001 certification and remain certified today.

Expanding

We outgrew the units we were in and doubled in size expanding into two further units.

Goldman Sachs

Our founder Adam Whitehouse was made a Visiting Industrial Fellow by Ashton University.

Staff numbers double

We won a contract with one of the largest mobile device insurance companies which saw employee numbers double.

Moving and changing

We started a new chapter, moving to bigger premises at Holditch House in Newcastle-under-Lyme which included a repair centre.

Changing times

A large contract ended meaning staff numbers reduced but with hard work and determination we turned the corner and became an official Samsung Repair Partner opening a Samsung Support Centre in Hanley as well as repairing devices at Holditch House.

Building relationships

Our relationship went from strength to strength and we opened a second repair centre in Sheffield and became authorised to provide large volumes in-warantee repairs at Holditch House.

Upskilling the next generation

With continued growth we doubled our workforce and warehouse area. We also launched a Training Academy to upskill the next generation of repair technicians. We launched an ongoing partnership with Ecology to do all we can to help protect the environment.

Changes at the top

The role of Founder and Chairman was split with Adam Whitehouse as founder and Darren Billings become our new Chief Executive Officer.

Under the media spotlight

A call by our founder Adam to create a Digital Device Repair Technician Apprenticeship to be set up and rolled out across the country attracted national on-line, radio and TV attention, including an interview with the BBC’s Technology Editor. TMT was shortlisted  in the Mobile News Awards (2023) Best Secondary Market Provider and Best Service Provider. Adam has been shortlisted in the Staffordshire Chamber Awards Entrepreneur of the Year Category and TMT has been shortlisted in the Business of the Year category.
