We were the only company in the county to have won the award last year. In an official ceremony, attended by a host of local dignitaries and stakeholders TMT First founder Adam Whitehouse was presented with the award by the HRH the King’s royal representative, the Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire, Professor Elizabeth Barnes CBE.
Newcastle-under-Lyme MP Adam Jogee, the town’s Mayor Councillor Robert-Betley Smith, company representatives from Samsung and eBay, as well as Keele University, the University of Staffordshire and Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, were among those who attended.
We are one of only 197 organisations nationally to receive this prestigious recognition, awarded for our innovative Mobile Component Repair Service (MCR).
Founder Adam Whitehouse who gave a speech before being presented with the award said: “You don’t often get opportunities like this, and I am incredibly proud to be standing here with my wife and daughters to be sharing this moment with them and our incredible team here. We live in a world where technology is moving at an incredibly fast pace but there is a tendency that if it goes wrong people jump to replace it. Our close collaboration with and support from Samsung as part of our 12-year relationship, has enabled us to innovate and develop exciting new service and repair solutions such as MCR.
Adam added: “At TMT First we’ve shown that replacing shouldn’t be the norm, repairing and refurbishing is a much better way, it’s better for the environment, helps protect the planet’s precious resources and is much more affordable. Our Mobile Component Repair service is the perfect example of that and to see it recognised with such a prestigious award is humbling and undoubtedly one of the proudest moments of my career. The award though belongs to everyone at TMT, it is down to their hard work, dedication and their constant desire to innovate – the King’s Award really does belong to them.”

Speaking at the presentation, the Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire, Professor Elizabeth Barnes CBE said: “We hope that your success will motivate and encourage other Staffordshire based businesses to strive for this level of success and important recognition. Your vision to make technology repair and reuse the norm, not the exception, aligns with one of the King’s key sustainability priorities and initiatives -sustainable consumption – he advocated a ‘make do and mend approach,’ which I guess underpins your business.
She added: “To Adam and your staff, I know that you will all leave here immensely proud of what has been achieved at TMT First and the part thar you have achieved in this and so you should be. Sincere congratulations to you all, a much-deserved award for many years of dedication.”

Newcastle-under-Lyme MP Adam Jogee said: “Newcastle-under-Lyme is home to brilliant, creative, innovative businesses and there is no better example of this than TMT First. The work they do around sustainability and to support the local economy is fantastic. I’d like to congratulate the team here on the award – it’s truly deserved.”
TMT First joins more than 8,000 UK enterprises that have received Royal recognition since the Awards were first established in 1965. The King’s Award for Enterprise is a globally recognised mark of excellence and the most prestigious business award in the UK.
