Meet Our Team - Dumitru Foca

Dumitru Foca

In our latest Meet the Team Interview we talk to Dumitru Foca, one of our Repair Team Leaders. Here he talks to us about his role, his hopes for the future and his motto – which is pretty impressive.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

This year has been full of surprises and changes. I’ve recently got married to my long-time fiancée and we are expecting a baby boy. I guess this will be the biggest challenge. I like traveling a lot and every year try to choose a different destination so I can discover new cultures and places.

I joined TMT First in 2017 as a repair technician and since then I’ve had different positions and faced different challenges. One of the biggest “challenges” was leading TMT Academy and teaching mobile device technicians of tomorrow.

Tell us about your job?

I’m currently leading the UB (which stands for unbreakable – and is our OLED replacement or screen without frame replacement) and buds’ teams. I have team leader responsibilities and enjoy the challenge of the role. I’m still always learning and have the opportunity to develop my technical skills with the UB process, which is very complex and delicate.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The best part of my job is that no two days are ever the same. Every day is different, bringing up new challenges so my role is never boring.

What’s the hardest thing about your job?

The hardest thing is probably making sure that the UB repair process is followed using the best standards and providing the best quality possible.

What did you do before you joined TMT?

Before I joined TMT, I used to work for a Romanian repair company as part of the technical team. I started working on this field 15 years ago as part of the quality control team. From there I moved into the technical team which was just a quick step for me. Since then, I’ve always tried to be the best version of myself and am always keen to develop new skills.

What’s your ambition?

I always want to push myself to do and learn more.

Tell us something no-one knows about you?

I played performance rugby during high school.

And finally, what’s your motto?

Don’t climb mountains so that the world can see you. Climb mountains so that you can see the world.
