Device Grading

Device Grading for Phones, Laptops and Games Consoles

We don’t just repair at TMT First. A big part of our business is the purchase and resale of devices including Phones, Tablets, Laptops and Games Consoles. One of the challenges with the secondary market is ensuring the grading guide matches the physical product.

At TMT First we have been grading and refurbishing devices for nearly 20 years, not just our own stock, but also for clients including retail and insurance partners. As a result our product grading is second to none, backed up with our comprehensive quality control process. Therefore, whether you are buying from or selling to TMT First, you can rely on our grading to be accurate.

Let’s start with phones and tablets. Every device we handle goes through a 52-point quality control inspection, a CheckMEND stolen goods check, BlackBelt360 certified data wipe and a comprehensive anti-bacterial clean. At this point the device is then graded from ‘Like New’ through ‘A’ to ‘F’, to ensure we cover every level of device condition. We consider wear and tear, battery condition, operational condition and display. And because we are an Apple and Samsung service partner, we have access to the latest diagnostics, tooling and genuine parts to ensure accurate testing.

With Laptops we also have a comprehensive grading system that runs from ‘A’ to ‘F’, from like new down to non-working. When grading Laptops we pay particular attention to screen and keyboard condition, battery life and aesthetic condition.

Games Consoles have fewer grades, ‘A’ to ‘D’, but the quality control and grading description is no less comprehensive. We consider the console condition and functionality, controller condition and supply of original connectivity and power cables. As a result you know exactly what you are purchasing from TMT First.

Our grading system has been developed as a result of years of experience, client expectation and for total transparency.

At TMT First we also grade devices to our clients’ requirements, for instance an insurance client my differ in their description of a grade ‘A’ or ‘B’. Our technicians and QC teams are fully capable of working to different grading briefs.
