Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Ravi, and I am 35 years old. I live in Cannock with my wife and our two-year-old daughter.
I am a data scientist and have various academic qualifications in this area including an MPhil in Data Science and a Master’s in Data Analysis for Business Intelligence from the University of Leicester, a Batchelors degree in Information Technology from Anna University (in India), and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Durham.
Tell us about your job?
I joined TMT First at the start of the year through something called A Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP). It’s fundamentally a programme designed to help businesses improve their competitiveness and productivity through using knowledge, technology and skills in a better way. A KTP is a three-way project partnership between a business, Keele University and a recently-qualified skilled graduate known as the Associate – which is me!
I am working on a number of projects here, particularly around developing Artificial intelligence driven applications to enhance efficiency and improvement management practices. I work with key stakeholders and teams across the business.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love exploring how automation and artificial intelligence can improve efficiency here. I’m proud that the projects I work on will ultimately help transform how TMT operates to make it more efficient and subsequently more profitable.
What’s the hardest thing about your job?
My role is only for two years which means I don’t have that much time to complete the multiple projects I’m working on. I will get them completed though!
What did you do before you joined TMT?
I have always worked in data science and data analysis. One of the projects I worked on with a previous company was to develop a Netflix like system for personalised website recommendations. At another company I created financial models and dashboards using statistical analysis.
What’s your ambition?
I would love to have a senior data scientist role and maybe head up an organisation’s data science team one day.
And finally tell us something no-one knows about you?
I love singing and sing in the choir at my local church.
