The Installation
The system comprises over 400 x 500W solar panels mounted across our roof, complemented by 400kWh battery storage. The battery storage is a key part of the design, capturing energy generated during peak daylight hours so it is available throughout the day and into the evening rather than lost back to the grid.
The numbers speak for themselves:
- ~162,000 kWh of renewable energy generated per year
- ~£44,000 estimated annual saving on energy costs
- ~£1,577,840 projected net saving over the lifetime of the system
- Circa 40 tonnes of CO2 emissions avoided every year
To put that environmental impact in context, 42 tonnes of CO2 per year is the equivalent of planting 7,952 trees or removing the impact of 886 long-haul flights annually. Over the lifetime of the system, the financial savings can be reinvested into the business to support future growth and innovation. It is a practical investment that pays back in more ways than one.
Part of a Broader Commitment
This installation does not sit in isolation. It is part of a wider programme of sustainability investment at TMT First that spans our operations, our services and our supply chain.
Through our refurbishment and ITAD services, we already help clients extend the life of technology assets, reducing the carbon footprint associated with device manufacture and disposal. The solar installation brings that same logic to our own operations, generating clean energy to power the facilities where that refurbishment work takes place. It is a meaningful alignment of values and action, and we are proud of what it represents.
We will be monitoring the system’s performance throughout its first full year and look forward to sharing updates as that picture develops. If you would like to talk to us about our approach to sustainability, or about how responsible technology lifecycle management can support your own ESG objectives, please get in touch.
