Dougie Mac have been caring for the community since 1973. They provide all hospice services free of charge to more than 3,500 children and adults with life-limiting illnesses each year in Stoke-on-Trent, North Staffordshire and the surrounding villages, also offering supportive care to their families and carers.
This year mark’s the charity’s 50th anniversary and we are going to raise as much money as we can this year to support them.
The charity’s got a series of big fund-raising events planned including a fashion show in March, a 5K charity run/walk at the World of Wedgwood in April, a midnight to sunrise walk in June as well as their 50th Birthday Ball on March 10th.
We’ll be encouraging our staff to support these events as well as holding our own events throughout the year.
We’re currently planning a number of fund-raising ideas to coincide with Dougie Mac’s milestone 50th birthday in March.
TMT Chief Executive Darren Billings said: “As a business we think it’s important that we support our local communities and give something back. When we asked our staff to choose which charity they wanted to support, Dougie Mac received by far the most votes. I know how highly thought of the charity is locally and just how much it does to help those that need it. The work they do and the support they give is truly amazing and we’re very proud to be supporting them.”
Donna Adams, Head of Business & Community Fundraising at Dougie Mac, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that TMT First staff chose Dougie Mac to be their charity of the year and we’re really looking forward to working with them on lots of exciting fundraising initiatives. It costs more than £17million each year to be able to offer our wide range of care and support services to local people facing a life-limiting illness. What’s more, 75% of this huge amount comes from the generosity of the local community which is why the support of the local business community is so important to us. Partnerships like this are vital in enabling us do what we do and we’re so grateful to everyone at TMT First for their support.”
